Once you dive through the chimney, there are a number of large coral heads on the way back to the dive boat. This colorful coral head provides shelter to schools of small fish. “The Chimney” is just off Great Dog Island, Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands One of the most colorful dive sites in the Caribbean, the Chimney is one of my favorite dive sites in the British Virgin Islands. It is also purported to have been Jacques Cousteau’s favorite site in the BVI, because of the colorful sponges, including the unusual white encrusted sponges, and cup corals that adorn the walls of the chimney. On the west side of Great Dog Island, just off the island of Virgin Gorda, you enter the chimney through a coral encrusted archway which leads to a narrower crack in the bedrock. The crack is not enclosed on the top, and some sunlight comes through, exposing the colorful sponges and cup coral on both sides of the chimney. Once you swim through the chimney, you enter a large canyon with numerous colorful coral heads and schools of fish. We also saw a spotted eagle ray on this dive. I dive this site every time I come to VIrgin Gorda with Dive BVI, an outstanding dive operation. I dove this site with Chris Blackwell, a highly regarding Dive Instructor. www.divebvi.com Video Rating: 5 / 5

One more adventure for the “Reluctant Tour Guides” in St. John. We noticed a boat was off it’s mooring and washed up on the shore of Coral Bay. PAZ checked it out and found that it had been abandoned for several years. We managed to get it off the shore and cleaned her up. On her maiden voyage/Three Hour Tour, we had a great time at first. She really moved through the water! Then, without warning her rudder broke off and Andrew had to swim for the shore. He got a ride back to our Boston Whaler and came out to tow the “Pirate Ship” back to the bay. Just one more day and adventure in Paradise. This is an address Ellie wrote and delivered at St. John’s Church Sunday May 13th, 2012 on Senior Sunday. All of the Parish’s high school seniors were recognized and had a chance to speak. It is a little difficult to hear, so here is the text: Hi. My name is Ellie Brown. I’m a senior at Plant High School, and I’m gong to be going to USF next fall. Well, what can I say? It’s been a great run here. My earliest memories of St. John’s go back to when I was little, and I was actually afraid of the Parish Hall. But I grew out of that when I found out about the donuts. But it goes beyond that. I was in the Christmas pageant as a dancing angel and later as a banner carrier. During Sunday School, I would always play with Miss Flossie’s Godly Play lessons that weren’t being used that day. I was also a mainstay at VBS, helping in the nursery. The church has also done a lot for me. I have been sick and in the hospital twice in my life, and a I received prayers from so many people while I recovered. As you know, this is the 100th anniversary of the church, and my great-great grandfather, Sumter Lowry, helped found it. Who would have thought that 100 years later, his great-great granddaughter would be making a speech for Senior Sunday? I’ve had a great eighteen years here, and I hope the next eighteen are just as memorable. Mom, Happy Mother’s Day. Thank you. Video Rating: 0 / 5
